My son just left for Europe. Thought you’d enjoy a timeline of his departure: Three months before: Him: I’m going to Europe. Me: Really? When? Him: I’m not sure. Me:

Mary Oves, Founder of The Chrysalis Collective

I am Mary Oves, formerly The (Not) It Girl. If you want to know why I called myself that, please look back in my archives at my very first blog in August of 2020, and it will make sense.

As a widow and a mother of boys, please know that I do not suffer fools. So if your panties get twisted into a wad easily, I have one of two suggestions: one, go watch the Hallmark Channel, because this may not be the space for you. Two, it is the space for you, because you want to email me and tell me off. I love that. Feel free. I promise to email you back and send you free stuff all the time.

The choice is yours.

I decided to enlist the help of my dear friend Jennifer (5sistersandadog.com) to help me build a website that reflected all sides of me.

Me to Jennifer at lunch: Are you telling me that you can build me a website where I discuss my favorite deodorant on one day and the metaphors in “Allegory of the Cave” the next?

Jennifer: Yes. Pass the creme brûlée.

And with that The Chrysalis Collective was born.

My little fam:

Thomas was my late Hub, he passed in 2017.

John and Dustin are my twins, aged 23.

Tommy is my youngest, at 19.

They are my greatest work to date.

Writing Credits

I was first published at the age of 18 years old, in the local paper in my sleepy little Italian hamlet in south Jersey. I think it was a piece about the Mt. Carmel festival. Since then, I have taken every writing opportunity that has been offered to me. The following is my list of publishing and blogging credits. Not as many as some, but more than most, I think.

And dozens of smaller publications. You wanna read old stuff, google me, it’s all there.

Coming in 2022 . . . Speaking Engagements!!

Mary is represented by Bradley Communications.
